Dokolo, Uganda – Caritas Norway has committed to funding additional projects in Dokolo District to enhance climate-smart agriculture and improve livelihoods.
The pledge was made by Ingrid Rosendorf Joys, Secretary General of Caritas Norway, during a field monitoring tour in Amwoma and Bata sub-counties.
She emphasized that Caritas Norway, in collaboration with Caritas Lira Diocese, is already implementing various initiatives in Dokolo to uplift communities through sustainable agricultural practices.
Among the ongoing projects are vegetable farming, aquaculture (fish farming) and environmental conservation efforts aimed at promoting climate-smart agriculture.
Rev. Fr. Hillary Muheeza, the National Director of Caritas Uganda, revealed that Caritas has launched a fundraising drive to collect resources from individuals to support more development projects across Uganda.
James Obonyo, a beneficiary from Awong village in Bata sub-county, expressed gratitude to Caritas for equipping him with knowledge in fish farming, which he said has transformed his life significantly.
Meanwhile, Joan Bua, Secretary for Works and Technical Services, speaking on behalf of the Dokolo District LCV Chairperson, commended Caritas for selecting Dokolo as a focus area.
She noted that the projects have brought positive change to the community and encouraged more support for sustainable development initiatives.
The commitment from Caritas Norway is expected to further strengthen agricultural resilience and economic stability for households in Dokolo District.
