Lira City, Uganda – The Okii Raki Okwero Cobo clan has set Saturday, January 25, 2025, as the burial date for their beloved member, Dr. Wilfred Olila, whose gruesome murder has left the Lango community and the nation in shock. Dr. Olila will be laid to rest at his ancestral home in Agweng, Lira District.

Speaking on Monday, January 20, 2025, the Clan Chief (Awitong), Shaban Alunga, expressed deep sorrow over the loss and called upon the people of Lango, Teso, and Uganda at large to rally behind the family during this difficult time.

“This is a tragic and senseless killing of a man who gave his life to healing and serving others,” Alunga said. “We cannot understand why such a kind and selfless person was taken from us in such a brutal manner.”

Alunga revealed that the body of Dr. Olila was picked from Kaberamaido District General Hospital and later transferred to Lira Regional Referral Hospital mortuary as burial arrangements continue.

He appealed for financial and material support to ensure a dignified send-off for the respected doctor.

The Clan Chief also said police investigations are ongoing and urged for patience from the clan members.

“The police in Kalaki District, where his body was found, have yet to identify any suspects or provide a report. We are waiting for justice and hope the authorities will act swiftly to bring the perpetrators to book,” he added.
