Dokolo, Uganda | A family in Dokolo District has appealed to well-wishers for Shs10 million to facilitate heart surgery for a one-year-eight-month-old girl diagnosed with a heart condition.
Olwal Francis, a resident of Acede Village in Akolodong Parish, Amwoma Sub-county, Dokolo North, said the money is needed to enable his granddaughter, Fortunate Akello, undergo surgery scheduled for September 19, 2026.
Olwal said the family is seeking support from well-wishers to meet the medical costs and give the child an opportunity to lead a healthy life.
He appreciated individuals who have already contributed towards the treatment and acknowledged the ongoing fundraising efforts through forms circulating in the community.
According to Olwal, Akello’s father, Justine Odongo, is currently in Aboke, Kole District, as the family continues to mobilise resources for the surgery.
Olwal appealed to individuals, organisations and other well-wishers to support the fundraising drive, saying the family cannot raise the required amount on its own.
“We appeal to everyone who can support this child to contribute towards her treatment so that she can have a healthy life and a brighter future,” Olwal said.
Those wishing to contribute can send financial support through 0788584574, registered in the name of Odongo Justine; 0760395033, registered in the name of Walter Evaline Opio, the catechist to Odongo; or 0773630538, registered in the name of Eunice.
The family says every contribution, regardless of the amount, will help towards meeting the Shs10 million target before the scheduled operation.
