Kapelebyong, Uganda – Police in Kapelebyong District are searching for Olwit Fidel, 56, who allegedly stabbed his cousin, Owino Julius, 55, over a land dispute on February 8, 2025, in Aberan Village, Alito Sub-County.
Reports indicate Olwit attacked Owino after he refused to consent to selling family land. The suspect fled the scene after the attack.
Local Council Chairperson Eeru John Emmanuel reported the incident to the police at 7:30 PM. Kapelebyong Central Police Station (CPS) registered the case under CRB 57/2025 and dispatched a homicide team.
East Kyoga Regional Police Commander Damalie Nachuha confirmed an ongoing investigation and urged the public to cooperate in locating the suspect.
“We strongly condemn acts of violence and urge communities to resolve disputes lawfully,” Nachuha stated.
Police are appealing for any information that could lead to Olwit’s arrest.
