The leadership of Yoweri Kaguta Museveni continues to influence socio-economic transformation across Uganda, including in Alebtong District. Through various government programmes and strategic investments, the district has witnessed notable progress in job creation, education, healthcare, and security.

Below are six major achievements attributed to the President’s development agenda in Alebtong.

1. Job Creation Through Emyooga

Under the Emyooga Programme, the government has injected Shs4.6 billion into cooperative savings groups in Alebtong. The initiative targets various categories of workers, including welders, carpenters, boda boda riders, and tailors. These funds have enabled many residents to expand their businesses and generate sustainable incomes.

2. Advancement of Technical and Scientific Education

The government supports two key technical institutions in the district: Amugu Agro Technical Institute and Abia War Memorial Technical Institute. These institutions provide training in areas such as electronics, mechanical engineering, agronomy, and modern agricultural practices, equipping young people with practical and marketable skills.

3. Economic Empowerment Through the Parish Development Model

Through the Parish Development Model, thousands of residents in Alebtong are entering the money economy. As of March 8, 2026, 7,686 women had benefited from parish revolving funds, each receiving Shs1 million to support crop and livestock farming. Additionally, 5,056 youths have accessed the funds to start or expand income-generating activities.

4. Strengthening Universal Primary Education

The government continues to invest in Universal Primary Education to ensure access to education for all children. By March 1, 2026, government primary schools in Alebtong had an enrolment of 106,000 pupils, supported through consistent capitation grants.

5. Upgrading Healthcare Facilities

To improve healthcare services, the government has upgraded six Health Centre IIs to Health Centre IIIs in Alebtong. These facilities are located in Adwir, Aloi, Abia, Akura, Awei, and Angetta subcounties, bringing improved medical care closer to the population.

6. Maintaining Peace and Security

Alebtong continues to enjoy relative peace and stability due to coordinated efforts by security agencies, including the Uganda People’s Defence Forces, Police, Prisons, and Intelligence Services. This stable security environment has supported development and community well-being.

The Deputy Resident District Commissioner of Alebtong, Mathias Lutwama, also commended Denis Hamson Obua, the NRM Vice Chairman for Northern Uganda, for his commitment to lobbying government support and services for the district.
