Lira, Uganda – During an interview at Medina Faizan Mosque, located in Lira Primary School, the Supreme Kadhi of Greater Lango Muslim Supreme Administration – Sheikh Yusuf Balinda emphasized that Eid Al-Fitr is a time for worship, praise, and community love.
He reminded Muslims that the day should be dedicated to sharing with the less fortunate, including the poor, widows, orphans, relatives, and friends.
Sheikh Balinda also urged Muslims to celebrate responsibly, cautioning against involvement in criminal activities during the festivities.
Addressing politicians in Lira City, Sheikh Balinda encouraged them to engage in politics with love and integrity.
He advised against blackmail and hate-driven campaigns, urging leaders to focus on their agendas and achievements rather than personal attacks.
“After elections, we must continue working together, whether you win or not,” he emphasized.
Sheikh Balinda also announced that the final match of the Eid Tournament would take place today.
He highlighted that the event was organized to bring Christians and Muslims together, fostering socialization and unity.
Thousands of Muslims gathered at Lira Primary School and various mosques across the Lango sub-region to celebrate Eid Al-Fitr, marking the end of the holy month of Ramadan with prayers, feasting and acts of charity.
