Two dead in Lira-Dokolo road accident

At least two traders were killed in a fatal road accident that occurred Saturday morning at Amach market, Wiodyak Sub County, Lira District.

According to report form North Kyoga Police spokes person SP Jimmy Patrick Okema confirmed two people died at the incident that occurred when a Fuso truck carrying sodas overturned at Amach market along Lira-Dokolo road at around 11AM.

The motor vehicle registration number UBN 247J lost control and ramped into a station truck registration number UBD 603N and a trailer registration number KCL 963S/ZB 9924.

The two victims have been identified as Atim Irene, a 30 year old female a resident of Teso Bar and Akoli Proscovia, a female aged 38 years a resident of Cuk Ibange both in Lira City West Division, Lira City.

Okema added that preliminary findings indicates that the cause of the accident was due to over speeding and the vehicle was tip toed to Lira City CPS pending IOV’s inspection.

Meanwhile, the bodies of the deceased have conveyed to Lira Regional Referral Hospital pending post mortem.
