Loading

Lira, Uganda – In a remarkable display of unity and discipline, the members of Bedijo Community Group Uganda, a model Sacco in Lira City, are set to revolutionize the Village Savings Loan system in the society.
According to Jimmy Ochol, the group’s chairperson, the secret to their success lies in their corporation and unity.
“We don’t have any misunderstandings here at Bedijo Community Group Uganda. We respect one another’s savings, however little it is, and what we do most times is to encourage even those in low income to be part of us,” Ochol explained in a recent interview.
The group, which has been in existence for over three years, boasts of a remarkable track record of no serious cases of losses or mismanagement of group funds by any leader. This has made them a point of attraction for potential new members.
“We have integrity, even as leaders, we haven’t received any serious complaints about mismanagement of funds. Already, many people are seeking membership to the group, but we are also keeping a keen eye on them before admitting,” Ochol said.
The group’s focus is not just on borrowing, but on promoting financial discipline and savings for development.
“As I said, we didn’t start this group to do a lot of borrowing, no, we want our group members to be financially disciplined and learn saving for development,” Ochol emphasized.
The transformative power of savings is evident in the group, with members experiencing joy and financial empowerment.
A recent example is a woman who received her savings totaling 1.1 million Ugandan shillings, a testament to the group’s impact.
The success of Bedijo Community Group Uganda is a call to action for the government, NGOs, and other stakeholders to support such initiatives.
By empowering communities to take control of their financial lives, we can create a more stable and prosperous society.
As Ochol aptly put it, “Such a powerful transformation being done can’t just be ignored.” It’s time for us to take notice and support initiatives like Bedijo Community Group Uganda that are changing lives and transforming communities.
