Lira City, Uganda – June 7, 2024: Ezra Bible Institute, a renowned theological institution in Uganda, marked a significant milestone today with its 4th Graduation Ceremony, held at its main campus. Twenty-one students, who have completed their studies in theology, were awarded diplomas and certificates, testifying to their dedication and perseverance.
The ceremony was graced by esteemed guests from various religious organizations, including Bishop Silvano Ogwal, Rev. Isaiah Etuku of Global Light Pentecostal Ministries-Barogole, Dr. Musa Ebong, and Bishop Jonathan Enyalio from Kumi, Dr. Kim She-Yun from South Korea(CEO-Ezra BibleInstitute). The event was a testament to the institute’s commitment to excellence in theological education and its impact on the community.
Bishop Dr. David Okello, the guest speaker, delivered a powerful sermon from Matthew 20:20, emphasizing the importance of humility and waiting for God’s timing. He encouraged the graduates to seek God’s grace and implement what they have learned, stressing that leadership is not about titles but about serving others. “Preaching God’s word needs knowledge, but not only shouting,” he said. “Be humble to leaders, be exemplary, and disciplined. Don’t be leaders leading followers, but leaders leading leaders.”
Jenifer Amucu Guzi Arike, the student leader, appreciated the Ezra Bible Institute community and highlighted the challenges faced by students, including sickness and financial constraints. She recommended improvements, such as having a medical personnel on campus and a well-equipped computer laboratory. “We gained valuable skills in spreading the gospel of salvation during our two years here,” she said. “Tuition fees are affordable, even for disadvantaged students from poor families.”
Certificates and Bibles were awarded to the best students in both diploma and certificate programs, as well as to student leaders. All graduates received similar gifts, celebrating their achievement. The awards recognized the graduates’ hard work and dedication to their studies, acknowledging their potential to make a positive impact in their communities.
