Iguli Primary Crowned Champion at Kids Athletics Zonal Competition in Amwoma

Dokolo, Uganda – Iguli Primary School in Amwoma Sub-county, Dokolo District, has emerged as the overall champion in a kids’ athletics competition held on Thursday.

The event was organized to select the Zonal Western team that will compete against other zones.

The competition, hosted at Amwoma Primary School, featured four participating schools: Amwoma, Iguli, Abucero and Akolodong primary schools.

Iguli Primary School took the lead with an impressive total of 1,423 points, followed by Akolodong with 1,189 points, Amwoma with 1,000 points and Abucero trailing with 977 points.

The athletics tournament involved boys and girls under the age categories of 12 and 14, competing in various track and field events.

Denis Otim, the games teacher at Iguli Primary School, confirmed the victory in an interview with Dokolo Post, noting the determination and discipline of the pupils.

Meanwhile, Betty Agweng, the Headteacher of Iguli Primary School, applauded the young athletes for their outstanding performance.

She also expressed gratitude to the school leadership, particularly the PTA and School Management Committee (SMC), for their financial support that enabled the school’s participation in the 2025 Kids Athletics competitions.
