Lira, Uganda – Kyoga County MP aspirant Col. Dr. John Francis Ongia has reaffirmed his commitment to community development by fulfilling his pledge to Amolatar Main SDA Church.
Today, he officially handed over 1 million shillings in cash and 10 bags of cement to Pastor Ray Maxwell Tweny to aid in the ongoing construction of the church.
Ongia, who was the Guest of Honor at a fundraising event on March 16, 2025, at Amolatar SDA Church Main in Abarler Parish, Muntu Sub-County, Amolatar District, had initially directed church leaders to collect a bull worth 1 million shillings from his farm in Amolatar to be sold in support of the church’s roofing project.
However, upon further consideration, he decided to provide the funds in cash to ensure faster progress on the construction.
In addition to the financial contribution, Ongia also bought 10 bags of cement from a hardware shop in Lira and handed them over to the pastor, reinforcing his dedication to the project.
He further took up the responsibility of delivering a formal request from the church to the State Minister for Northern Uganda, seeking support in acquiring iron sheets to complete the roofing.
While receiving the donation, Pastor Tweny expressed his heartfelt gratitude, commending Ongia for his unwavering support of faith-based initiatives and community development.
He described Ongia as a leader with a vision for the people, praying for his success in the 2026 elections so that he may continue uplifting the lives of his constituents.
Church members and residents in attendance hailed Ongia’s generosity, noting that his contribution not only strengthens the foundation of the church but also fosters unity and collective progress within the community.
