Bombo, Uganda | Mentor Secondary School kicked off their USSSA Elite Championship campaign with a spirited 2–2 draw against Bukedea Comprehensive School in a thrilling opening fixture at Janan Secondary School Bombo.
The tournament, featuring ten of the country’s top school teams, has already set the stage for high-quality and competitive football.
Mentor SS started the match with determination, but Bukedea Comprehensive took advantage of early chances to establish a 2–1 lead by halftime. The visitors’ quick counterattacks and clinical finishing put Mentor on the back foot during the first half.
After the break, Mentor regrouped, strengthened their midfield, and pushed forward with greater urgency. Their persistence paid off when Epila scored the equaliser, leveling the match at 2–2 and lifting the spirits of players and supporters alike.
Both teams battled hard in the final minutes, but Bukedea held firm to ensure a shared point.
