Otuke, Uganda | Otuke East County MP, Julius Bua Acon, has called for unity among Christians and emphasized the importance of supporting God’s work as a foundation for true leadership.Speaking on Sunday April 27, 2025 at St. Janan Luwum Church of Uganda in Olilim Town Council, Acon said people in Europe and America live peacefully across religious lines — Anglican, Catholic, or Pentecostal – without discrimination.

He criticized some religious leaders in Uganda, accusing them of lacking good hearts, especially during political seasons.

Acon reminded the congregation that in 2016, he donated 70 bags of cement each to the Catholic, Anglican, and Pentecostal headquarters in Otuke Town Council to support church construction.

He expressed disappointment that despite his contributions, some men of God turn against him during elections. However, he thanked God for always securing him victory, stating that “God fights for those who truly worship Him and support His work.”

He stressed that leadership is a gift from God, saying, “No matter how powerful you are, if you do not support God’s work, you will never be a leader.”

Acon shared that even in his own place of residence, some people did not vote for him in the 2021 elections, but emphasized that leaders should not neglect those who did not support them.

Acon testified that his political journey is a result of God’s favor and mercy, rising from a humble background to national leadership. He quoted 1 Peter 4:8: “Above all, love each other deeply, because love covers a multitude of sins.”

The MP criticized the low participation in church activities, noting that although more than 1,000 people gathered during his recent maize seed distribution, fewer than 30 attend regular church services. He urged men to actively participate in government programs and elections alongside women.

During the service, Acon made several donations to support church development:

  • Promised to provide all the iron sheets needed to roof the catechist’s house.
  • Donated UGX 250,000 to assist the catechist in buying a bicycle.
  • Gave UGX 500,000 to the Mothers’ Union of St. Janan Luwum Church.
  • Contributed UGX 500,000 to the church choir to help purchase uniforms.
  • Donated UGX 300,000 towards buying a public address system.

The event reaffirmed Acon’s commitment to strengthening the church and promoting unity among Christians in Otuke East.
