Otuke East MP Achon Dominates Early Opinion Polls with Over 85% as Rivals Abola and Ogwal Urged to Stay in Their Current Positions

Otuke, Uganda – In a remarkable show of political dominance, Hon. Julius Achon Bua, the incumbent Member of Parliament for Otuke East County, is projected to retain his seat with overwhelming support in the upcoming 2026 general elections.

According to an opinion poll conducted across the subcounties of Olilim, Orum, Ogor, and Otuke Town Council, Achon commands an impressive 85% approval rating among the electorate.

Many voters cite his unmatched development efforts, unity-driven leadership, and deep connection to the people as reasons for their continued support.

Patrick Okullu, a resident of Olilim, expressed confidence in Achon’s leadership, warning potential rivals such as Francis Abola, the Otuke District LC V Chairman, against contesting.

“Abola should remain in his current position, where he has a good chance of being re-elected. If he challenges Achon, he might suffer a humiliating defeat,” Okullu stated.

Similarly, Jacky Akello from Ogor Subcounty discouraged both Abola and Ogwal Lameck YK, the Otuke District Council Speaker, from joining the race.

“Achon is God-sent to Otuke. Those thinking of contesting against him should reconsider because they stand no chance,” she remarked.

Despite this overwhelming endorsement, Ogwal Lameck YK has declared his intention to compete in the NRM primaries, though political analysts and residents regard his chances of success as minimal.

“Lameck is still a junior in politics, and Achon’s experience and track record place him far ahead,”Molly a local resident noted.

Achon’s leadership style has been widely praised for its focus on development and inclusivity.

On December 23, 2024, he hosted over 400 religious leaders, 100 political agents, and key stakeholders at Townside Guest House, Otuke Town Council.

During the gathering, Achon emphasized unity among religious leaders, citing 1 Corinthians 12:12 to inspire collective efforts toward community development.

“I entered politics by God’s grace, and I believe that through unity, we can achieve greater heights for Otuke,” he stated.

His goodwill extended beyond rhetoric, as each attendee received a Christmas package worth UGX 30,000, totaling UGX 25 million in donations.

Achon’s achievements are visible across Otuke and the broader Lango subregion.

He has spearheaded the construction of 97 boreholes in Otuke, with plans for an additional 200 boreholes in 2025, courtesy of his partnership with Australian donors.

His Kristina Health Centre III is also set to receive a UGX 1 billion theatre funded by Achon Uganda Funds and Love Mercy Australia.

Additionally, Achon has supported agricultural productivity by distributing maize and simsim seeds to farmers and rehabilitating several churches across Otuke.

His consistent efforts to improve both the spiritual and physical well-being of his community have earned him admiration from religious leaders.

“Achon’s vision and humility inspire hope for Otuke,” said Rev. Peter Obong of Saving Grace Ministry.

Imam Hassan Ojok of Albuhari Main Mosque commended him for uniting different faiths, a gesture described as unprecedented in the district’s history.

Achon’s reelection bid has also received key endorsements from former political rivals.

Francis Oweka Eyen, a former contender, has shifted his focus to the LC V Chairmanship of Otuke District and declared support for Achon, describing him as “an outstanding MP whose work speaks volumes.”

Abila Compius, another former rival, echoed similar sentiments, pledging unwavering support for Achon in 2026.

Deputy RDC Francis Okwamary, representing RDC George Abudul, praised Achon’s leadership, aligning it with President Museveni’s vision for unity and development.

“Leaders like Achon, who champion unity and development, deserve our collective support,” Okwamary noted.

Hon. Julius Achon Bua’s widespread popularity and unmatched development record position him as the frontrunner for the Otuke East County MP seat as the 2026 election draws closer.

His efforts in uniting the community, enhancing public services, and empowering religious institutions have created a solid foundation of support.

With endorsements from political heavyweights, religious leaders and ordinary citizens, Achon’s reelection seems inevitable.
