Dokolo, Uganda – Dokolo South MP, Hon. Felix Okot Ogong, has raised concern over the increasing levels of unfaithfulness among married couples, particularly in rural areas.
He made the remarks on Sunday during a routine visit to various churches in his constituency, urging communities to uphold family values.
“I conducted my own survey and it shows that unfaithfulness is more prevalent in rural areas compared to urban centers. This trend is worrying, and I encourage parents to promote unity, respect and teamwork in their families,” Okot said.
The MP further urged parents to take responsibility for their children, emphasizing the need for proper upbringing.
He blamed the rising cases of street gangs on parental neglect.
“When parents fail in their duty, children grow up without guidance, leading to issues like street gangs. Let’s be more involved in their lives,” he added.
During his visit, Hon. Okot contributed over UGX 2.5 million, along with sand and bricks, to support the construction of several churches, including Oyirogole Catholic Chapel, Angeta Chapel, Atur Central, Agoro-Onyut Church of Uganda and Ayuni Yahweh Pentecostal Mission in Kangai.
Church leaders and congregants expressed gratitude for the MP’s generosity and dedication to both spiritual and social development.
Many pledged to work together to strengthen family bonds and create a more united community.
