Kampala, Uganda | Joseph Jones Ogwal has pledged to prioritise road infrastructure and healthcare improvement in Dokolo North County following his swearing-in as Member of Parliament for the 2026–2031 term in the 12th Parliament.
Ogwal took oath on Friday morning at exactly 9:04 a.m., officially beginning his tenure as legislator for Dokolo North County.
Speaking in a telephone interview with Voice of Lango FM shortly after the ceremony, Ogwal thanked God, the voters of Dokolo North County, and his campaign task force for the support that enabled his victory.
He said their vision had finally been fulfilled and noted that his leadership would focus on addressing critical service delivery challenges affecting the constituency.
Ogwal identified the poor state of roads as one of the major issues requiring urgent attention, saying many roads in the area are currently impassable and negatively affecting movement and business activities.
The legislator also pointed to inadequate healthcare services in the constituency, revealing that Dokolo North lacks a Health Centre IV.
He expressed optimism that through collaboration with the government and relevant stakeholders, the constituency would secure improved health infrastructure during his term in office.
Ogwal further pledged to maintain close engagement with the electorate by regularly updating residents on government programmes, ongoing projects, and the progress of his leadership.
He added that he intended to promote inclusive leadership through consultations with former political leaders, religious leaders, and other community stakeholders in order to advance development in Dokolo District.
According to Ogwal, he would remain accountable to the people by regularly returning to the constituency to explain what had been achieved, what was still pending, and the progress made under his leadership.
Other legislators from the Lango sub-region sworn in on the same day, included Paul Omara of Otuke County, Boniface Okot of Kole South County, and Patrick Ogwang Obura of Oyam South County, among others.
The MPs join colleagues who took oath on May 13 and 14 ahead of the commencement of parliamentary business in the 12th Parliament.
