Otuke, Uganda – In a remarkable display of leadership and community engagement, Hon. Julius Achon Bua, Member of Parliament for Otuke East County, has today Monday December 23, 2024, hosted 400 religious leaders, 100 political agents, and a number of key stakeholders at Townside Guest House, Otuke Town Council.

The gathering, held under the theme of unity and development, showcased Achon’s relentless commitment to uplifting Otuke and its people.

The event brought together clergy from diverse denominations, including the Catholic Church, the Anglican Church, Pentecostal churches, Seventh Day Adventist, and Islamic leaders.

Hon. Achon emphasized the importance of unity among religious leaders, urging them to set aside differences for the greater good of the community.

Addressing the gathering, Achon stated, “I entered politics by God’s grace, and I believe that through unity, we can achieve greater heights for Otuke.”

He cited 1 Corinthians 12:12 to inspire cooperation and mutual respect among the leaders.

Achon also provided each religious leader, political agent, and key stakeholders a Christmas package of UGX 30,000, totalling UGX 25 million in contributions to support them during the festive season.

Achon’s notable achievements include the construction of 97 boreholes in Otuke, with plans for an additional 200 boreholes in 2025, funded by Australian donors.

Achon’s borehole projects extend beyond Otuke to other districts in the Lango subregion, such as Lira, Alebtong, Dokolo, and many others reflecting his regional impact.

Additionally, Achon has rehabilitated numerous churches and distributed agricultural inputs, including maize and simsim seeds, to empower farmers.

“Achon’s efforts have transformed Otuke, from boreholes to church renovations. He truly embodies what it means to be a servant leader,” he said.

In  political development, two of Achon’s longtime rivals, Francis Oweka Eyen and Abila Compius, declared their support for his 2026 reelection bid.

Oweka Eyen, who has shifted his focus to contesting for the LC V Chairmanship of Otuke District, described Achon as “an outstanding MP whose work speaks volumes.”

Abila Compius echoed similar sentiments, assuring Achon of his unwavering support in the upcoming elections. Such endorsements signal a growing consensus on Achon’s leadership and achievements.

Religious leaders praised Achon for his inclusive approach and commitment to the spiritual and physical well-being of the community.

Imam Hassan Ojok of Albuhari Main Mosque commended Achon for uniting all faiths, a gesture he described as unprecedented in Otuke.

Rev. Canon Jimmy Max Ajon, Archdeacon of Orum, encouraged religious leaders to focus on advising rather than becoming agents of political divisions.

“Achon’s vision and humility inspire hope for Otuke,” said Rev. Peter Obong alias “Amen Amen” of Saving Grace Ministry, adding, “The eyes of God are on him, and his efforts will bear fruit.”

Late last week on December 21, 2024, Hon. Achon extended his support to local law enforcement, providing airtime worth UGX 1,460,000 to 145 police officers in Otuke.

This initiative, aimed at enhancing communication during the festive season, was well-received by SP Wanyama Boniface, the District Police Commander, who praised Achon as a leader dedicated to solving practical challenges.

Deputy RDC Francis Okwamary, representing RDC George Abudul, applauded the gathering as aligning with President Museveni’s vision of unity among religious leaders.

As the festive season approaches, Hon. Julius Achon Bua has solidified his position as a transformative leader in Otuke and beyond.

His efforts to unite religious leaders, empower communities, and enhance public services underscore his dedication to creating a better future for his constituents.

With widespread support from religious leaders, political rivals, and community members, Achon’s 2026 reelection bid appears almost certain. As he often says, “Only God can stop me from politics, not anyone.”

For the people of Otuke, Achon’s leadership is not just politics—it is a mission to bring hope, unity, and progress to every corner of the district.
