RCC Lawrence Egole: The Unshakable Pillar Driving Security and Progress in Lira City

Lira, Uganda – The holiday season in Lira City was marked by peace, security, and progress, thanks to the dedicated efforts of Resident City Commissioner (RCC) Lawrence Egole and his team of security personnel.

Egole’s unwavering commitment to ensuring the safety and well-being of residents has further solidified his reputation as a transformative leader in the region.

Under Egole’s leadership, the Christmas festivities unfolded seamlessly, with no major security incidents reported.

In collaboration with the District Police Commander (DPC) and other security agencies, Egole spearheaded a comprehensive strategy to maintain law and order throughout the city.

Egole prioritized vigilance and community engagement to ensure that everyone could enjoy the holiday season safely.

Egole’s role extended beyond security. On December 4, 2024, he launched the second edition of The Commissioners’ Journal Lira City, a publication highlighting government achievements, including the transformative impact of the Parish Development Model (PDM).

The launch, held at his office opposite the Lira City Central Police Station, was attended by key officials such as Assistant RCCs Bonny Otucu and Bonny Ferdinand Okello Alele, as well as City Internal Security Officer (CISO) Ezama Romano.

The journal showcased inspiring testimonies from beneficiaries of the PDM, emphasizing its success in uplifting grassroots communities.

Notably, the government disbursed UGX 10.581 billion to 10,581 beneficiaries across Lira City’s 49 parishes between 2021 and 2023/24, empowering individuals with resources for income-generating activities.

Egole’s leadership in ensuring transparency and integrity in government processes was also evident earlier in December when he urged the Lira City Service Commission to uphold merit-based recruitment for over 3,000 job applicants.

In a meeting with the commission, Egole emphasized the critical role of integrity in shaping Lira’s future, warning against corruption and external interference in recruitment processes.

“Integrity is the foundation of good governance. Our public servants must be selected on merit to ensure efficient service delivery,” Egole remarked.

Egole’s ability to mobilize resources and foster collaboration among stakeholders has made him an indispensable force in Lira City’s development.

As the festive season comes to a close, residents continue to applaud his leadership for not only maintaining maximum security but also ensuring that government programs like the PDM reach their intended beneficiaries.

Looking ahead, Egole’s commitment to President Yoweri Museveni’s vision of socioeconomic transformation remains steadfast.

His efforts to promote security, transparency, and development exemplify the National Resistance Movement (NRM) values of patriotism and accountability.

As Lira City enters 2025 with renewed hope and stability, Egole’s leadership sets a benchmark for progress, unity, and effective governance.
