Dokolo, Uganda | The Uganda People’s Congress (UPC) Electoral Commission has announced new dates for the party structure elections as preparations intensify ahead of the 2026 general elections.
Anglious Ocen Ogwal, the UPC Chairperson for Dokolo District, confirmed the development during a press briefing held at his office in Dokolo Town Council on Friday morning.
According to Ocen, elections for the UPC party structures and the voting for the party president will take place simultaneously on 12th June 2025 at the village level.
He revealed that two candidates Denis Adim Enap and Jimmy James Michael Akena Obote have so far expressed interest in contesting for the UPC party presidency.
He further outlined the election roadmap following the village-level polls.
Parish elections are scheduled for 22nd June 2025, sub-county elections on 24th June, constituency-level elections on 26th June, and district-level elections on 3rd July 2025.
Ocen also noted that the nomination process for aspirants wishing to contest under the UPC ticket is ongoing.
Nomination forms can be picked from Bata Town Council and Agwata Town Council for Dokolo North, and Cwagere Trading Centre as well as the UPC District Office in Dokolo for Dokolo South.
He emphasized that all aspirants must pay the required nomination fees before collecting their forms.
Ocen urged all contenders and supporters to observe electoral guidelines and conduct themselves within the confines of the law throughout the election period, calling for peaceful and orderly participation.
