Kampala, Uganda | In a bold declaration of intent, Abudul George was officially nominated on June 17, 2025, as a contestant in the NRM party primaries for the Erute South parliamentary seat, setting the stage for a high-stakes race in Lango Sub-region.

Nominated at the NRM Electoral Commission headquarters and flanked by party officials, including NRM Secretary General Dr. Tanga Odoi, Abudul struck a confident tone, pledging to offer the people of Erute South what he described as “transformative leadership anchored on service delivery and accountability.”

The nomination was proposed by Ogwang Tonny, Chairperson of NRM in Amach Subcounty, and seconded by

Tonny Alfred Okello, the Office of the National Chairman (ONC) Coordinator for Lira District.

Additional endorsement came from Grace, the Women’s League Vice Chairperson for Barr Subcounty.

Addressing the media shortly after his nomination, Abudul dismissed fears of competition within the party ranks, declaring he is not afraid of any candidate who steps forward to challenge him in the NRM primaries.

He emphasized that his campaign is not about personalities but about the aspirations and frustrations of the people of Erute South.

He stated that his agenda is centered on the community’s real needs and long-neglected concerns.

He further noted that for too long, the people of Erute South have elected leaders whose impact has remained invisible.

One voter, Grace, voiced the sentiment of many when she remarked that the constituency has suffered from a cycle of unfulfilled promises.

Abudul’s campaign message revolves around practical change. He criticized former leaders for failing to fully utilize government programs and development platforms. In contrast, he promised to collaborate with grassroots organizations, community structures, and the NRM agenda to deliver essential services such as roads, schools, and healthcare.

While he aligns his ambitions with the broader NRM vision, he stressed that Erute South requires a localized and context-specific approach to development.

Tonny Alfred Okello, the ONC Coordinator for Lira District, pointed out that while many candidates have made similar promises in the past, the time has come for real action.

Political observers say the burden now lies with Abudul to demonstrate that his words can translate into measurable impact.

Abudul is expected to face a tough contest in the NRM primaries, including competition from Engola Sam, the Presidential Advisor on Lango Affairs, among others.

However, analysts note that Abudul’s confident entry and early ground mobilization have positioned him as a serious contender.
