Dokolo District – UPC Party President Hon. Jimmy James Michael Akena Obote has urged voters in Dokolo District and the Lango sub-region to make informed decisions in the upcoming elections, emphasizing the importance of peace and improved healthcare.
Speaking at Angwecibange Primary School playground, where Dokolo Woman MP Hon. Sarah Aguti Nyankori handed over an ambulance donation, Akena criticized the government’s priorities, claiming it invests more in military operations abroad than in critical sectors like healthcare.
“The government values war more than the lives of Ugandans. Instead of improving hospitals, they are busy sending soldiers to fight abroad,” Akena remarked.
He assured the public that when given the opportunity, his leadership would prioritize health and education.
Hon. Sarah Aguti Nyankori, while donating the ambulance, explained that it will help improve emergency response, patient referrals, and maternal healthcare services in Dokolo.
She noted that this was part of her campaign promise, aimed at tackling healthcare challenges in the district.
Residents praised the initiative, with 65-year-old Rose Akello from Adwoki Parish in Agwata Sub-County commending Nyankori for her commitment to community welfare, stating, “No leader has done what she has done for us.”
The ambulance is set to serve Dokolo Town Council, Agwata, Bata, Okwongodul, Kwera, Kangai, Adok, Adeknino, Amwoma, Okwalongwen, Kangai Town Council, Bata Town Council, Agwata Town Council and Dokolo Sub-County, bringing much-needed relief to the health sector.
The political landscape in Dokolo is shifting, with leaders placing service delivery at the forefront of their campaigns.
The growing focus on healthcare and community development is now shaping voter expectations, as residents look beyond political rhetoric to demand tangible results from their leaders.
