Police in Alebtong District are investigating circumstances under which mob lynched a 28-year old man suspected to be a thief.
Suspect Etuku Mackay was brutally murdered at Adongi ‘A’ Village, Abongatin Parish, Amugo Sub-county, in Alebtong District on Sunday around 8:00am in the morning.
It’s alleged that Etuku was caught red-handed braking the shop belonging to Dilish Akite, a business lady of Adagani Trading Centre.
Francis Owiny, Chairperson LC 1 of Adongi ‘A’ Village confirmed to us that he received a phone call from one of his locals informing him that Etuku has been arrested by the mob but on reaching the scene, he was shocked seeing Etuku laying in a pool of blood.
The deceased was caught with 1 bar of soap, 2 packets of biscuits, 1 bottle of soda among the exhibits.

According to Owiny, Etuku has for a long time been disturbing the locals of Amugo but unfortunately, hungry mob murdered him on Sunday 29/10/2023.
Mr. Ojom David, Chairperson LC III, of Amugo Sub-county confirmed to us that he received the information about the death of Etuku and urged locals to arrest criminals and hand over to security team for further investigation so that justice prevail rather than being ignorant to the law.
Ojom vowed to arrest defiant parents who doesn’t want to send children to school stating their children are the ones being a burden to the society.
The crime scene police visited, recorded statements, and registered a case of murder by mob but efforts are ongoing to ensure culprits arrested.
North Kyoga Police spokesperson SP. Jimmy Patrick Okema was unresponsive when our reporter made several attempts to get comments from him.
The body of the deceased has been conveyed to Alebtong Health Center IV pending post-mortem.
