Kampala, Uganda – The Ugandan law enforcement community mourns the tragic and sudden loss of Assistant Superintendent of Police (ASP) Darlington Eiru, Officer in Charge at Clock Tower Police Station in Kampala.
According to reports, ASP Eiru collapsed in his office on the morning of Sunday, July 21, 2024, and was immediately rushed to Nsambya Hospital.
Despite prompt medical attention, doctors pronounced him dead upon arrival.
Kampala Metropolitan Deputy Police Spokesperson Luke Owoyesigire confirmed the devastating news.
“Yes, that’s our OC Clock Tower. He became unconscious in the office today, was rushed to Nsambya Hospital, and was later pronounced dead,” Owoyesigire stated.
The family of ASP Eiru, led by Hon. Jonathan Ebwalu, MP for Soroti West Division, also publicly announced the tragic passing of their beloved son and dedicated police officer.
A series of funeral services will be held in honor of ASP Eiru, starting with a ceremony at St. Phillips and Andrews Church in Mukono on Monday, July 22, 2024, followed by a vigil at his home in Mukono and another service at St. Peter’s Cathedral in Soroti on Tuesday, July 23, 2024.
The final resting place for ASP Eiru will be at his ancestral home in Oderai Cell, Oderai Ward, Soroti West Division, where he will be laid to rest on Wednesday, July 24.
As the nation mourns the untimely death of ASP Darlington Eiru, his unwavering commitment to public service and dedication to maintaining law and order serve as a testament to his exceptional character.
His passing leaves a significant void within the Uganda Police Force and the community he served so diligently.
