Dokolo, Uganda – The Adeknino Community Group on Friday, December 27, 2024, held a highly impactful meeting and end-of-year party at the Adeknino Subcounty Headquarters Council Hall.
The event, which celebrated the group’s achievements and outlined future plans, was attended by local leaders and community members who praised the group’s dedication to development and charity.
Judith Atim, Female Councillor for Arida Parish and Chairperson of Community Base & Social Services, represented the LCIII Chairperson and delivered an inspiring address.
She commended the group for their unwavering commitment to unity and progress, emphasizing their critical role in driving community development.
Atim highlighted the group’s recent charity initiative at Awelo Health Centre III, where members cleaned the premises, slashed bushes, and donated essential items such as soap and sugar to patients.
“Your charity work on December 26 has set an example for others to follow,” she said.
She encouraged the group to remain steadfast and reminded them that organized groups are often prioritized in government support programs.
Otok Amos Amol, representing Dokolo LC V Chairperson James Otto Apili, lauded the group’s efforts while shedding light on pressing issues at Awelo Health Centre III.
He identified the lack of cleaning tools and a proper kitchen for patients’ attendants, many of whom cook under mango trees, as urgent challenges.
In response, Amol pledged that a fence for the health centre would be included in the next budget and called for a collective effort to construct a kitchen.
“Adeknino Subcounty has consistently benefited from government programs, and this group is well-positioned to maximize those opportunities,” he stated.
He also encouraged the group to explore charity initiatives that could support flood victims in the district.
The Patron of the Adeknino Community Group and Guest of Honour, Vincent Opito, an aspirant for Dokolo South County MP in 2026, hailed the group’s charity work as groundbreaking.
“What you did at Awelo Health Centre III is historic—it’s the first initiative of its kind and has already left an indelible mark,” Opito said.
Opito emphasized the importance of unity and leadership, noting that strong leaders and committed members are essential for success.
He proposed adopting annual themes, slogans, and a constitution to enhance the group’s identity and effectiveness.
“Knowing each other’s skills and professions is a resource that can propel this group to greater heights,” he added.
The event concluded with a lively end-of-year party led by the group’s Chairperson, Palakak Bonny.
Members celebrated their accomplishments and reaffirmed their commitment to community development.
The Adeknino Community Group’s dedication to addressing local challenges and fostering unity has positioned them as a model for grassroots development in Dokolo District.
