Kole, Uganda – Judith Alyek, Kole Woman Member of Parliament and Chairperson of the Lango Parliamentary Group, has reaffirmed her unwavering commitment to elevating education standards in Kole District.
Speaking during a reunion of the Old Students Association at Aculbanya Secondary School in Aboke Subcounty, Alyek shared her ongoing efforts to address key challenges in the education sector.
“Things have to be different this time in Kole,” Alyek declared, emphasizing her proactive approach to addressing critical infrastructure needs.
She announced successful lobbying efforts for science lab equipment through UK Lab Aid, with Ayer Seed Secondary School already benefiting.
“Very soon, Aculbanya SS will receive their consignment as well,” she promised, highlighting her dedication to equitable resource distribution.
Beyond infrastructure, Alyek has prioritized scholarships for underprivileged students, enabling them to access education at top universities.
“These beneficiaries are my children,” she remarked, her voice filled with pride.
Alyek hinted at an upcoming event to celebrate the achievements of these students, who hail not only from Kole but also across Lango Subregion.
Aculbanya SS’s headteacher, Cegan Dick, voiced his frustration over the government’s failure to replace the school’s Tata Lorry, which was taken by NRA soldiers years ago.
“We’ve done everything possible, including trips to Kampala, yet there’s no progress. Why make us go that far if the truck won’t be delivered?” Dick lamented.
In response, Alyek vowed to escalate the matter, revealing that the school’s case file – detailing the specifications of the promised replacement vehicle was discovered misplaced between ministries.
“The file is now complete, with just procurement pending. I will follow this issue to the very last dot until the vehicle is delivered,” Alyek assured attendees.
Judith Alyek’s relentless pursuit of educational progress and her advocacy for justice exemplify her leadership and dedication to the people of Kole.
