Emorimor Decries Rising Child Sacrifice in Teso, Calls for Urgent Action

Kumi, Uganda –  His Royal Highness Emorimor Paul Sande Emolot Etomeileng has raised alarm over the increasing cases of child sacrifice in the Teso sub-region, calling for immediate action to protect children.

Speaking at the funeral of Akol Christine Osuret in Olimai Village, Kanyumu County, Kumi District on the 26th March, 2026, he condemned the disturbing trend, linking it to ritual wealth-seeking and political ambitions.

Emorimor warned that Teso has become one of Uganda’s hotspots for child sacrifice, with victims abducted and mutilated in rituals meant to bring fortune or political power.

“This is unacceptable. We cannot allow greed and ignorance to claim the lives of our children. We must act now,” he said.

He urged security agencies, cultural leaders and the community to intensify efforts to stop these gruesome crimes, emphasizing that child protection should be a top priority.

The paramount chief also expressed concern over growing political divisions in Teso, stating that infighting among leaders has hindered efforts to address child abuse, poverty and underdevelopment.

“As we approach elections, I urge leaders to put aside their differences and focus on protecting our children and developing our communities,” he stressed.

His comments come at a time when tensions among Teso leaders are escalating, with public disputes taking priority over pressing social issues.

The late Akol Christine Osuret, mother of Apostle Danniel Emasit Osuret, was honored for her contributions to the community.

Her funeral gathered prominent leaders, including Kumi Municipality MP Sylas Aogon, Kumi District Woman MP Christine Apolot and Bukedea County MP Bosco Ikojo.

Their presence highlighted the urgency of Emorimor’s message, especially as Uganda nears the 2026 elections, a period often associated with heightened ritual activity.

Emorimor urged families, religious leaders and law enforcement to unite in the fight against child sacrifice and all forms of child abuse.

“Our children are the future. We need stronger laws, community awareness, and immediate action to stop this evil,” he emphasized.

His call has sparked discussions across Teso, with many hoping that his leadership will inspire concrete measures to safeguard children and restore unity in the region.
