Exclusive Interview with Carlos Da Christ Rapper: Rising Gospel Artist with a Unique Flair

Justin Just Like That: Welcome, Carlos Da Christ Rapper. It’s great to have you here! Let’s start with your journey.

What inspired you to venture into music, especially gospel rap? 

Carlos Da Christ Rapper: Thank you, Justin! My journey into music started in April 2024. I’ve always had a passion for expressing my faith and life experiences through art.

Gospel rap became my way of connecting with people, sharing God’s word and inspiring others while staying true to my roots and creativity. 

Justin Just Like That: That’s inspiring! Can you share a bit about your background and how it shaped your music career? 

Carlos Da Christ Rapper: I come from Akwalakawala Village in Otuke District, born to my amazing parents, Okelo Jimmy and Ejang Betty. My Lango heritage and upbringing in a close-knit community have greatly influenced my music.

I studied motor vehicle technology at Dokolo Technical School and later earned a certificate in Automotive Mechanics and Maintenance at M.T.I. Though I work as a driver and mechanic, music became my way of touching lives and expressing my faith. 

Justin Just Like That: You’ve released several songs this year. Tell us about them. 

Carlos Da Christ Rapper: My debut track, Obedo Rwota, came out in April 2024, followed by You Touched Me in May. In June, I collaborated with Chris Mountain and Nick Morris Psalmist on My Defender. July saw the release of Obedo Yin and my latest song, Christ, I Am Yours, was released in November. Each song carries a powerful message of faith, hope, and love. 

Justin Just Like That: That’s impressive progress! Besides music, what other skills or talents do you bring to the table? 

Carlos Da Christ Rapper: Apart from being a performing artist, I’m also a dreads master – I plait dreads for clients. I work as a driver and do occasional mechanic work.

Additionally, I serve as an MC when booked for events. These roles have helped me connect with different people and grow as an individual.
