Kampala, Uganda | Security agencies in the Kampala Metropolitan South (KMP South) region have arrested four suspects in separate incidents linked to cattle theft and aggravated robbery.
The arrests follow a joint security operation conducted on March 7, 2026, in Kasanje Town Council after residents raised concerns over rising cases of cattle theft in the area.
According to police, the operation involved the Uganda Police Force, the Uganda People’s Defence Forces (UPDF), and members of the local community who carried out patrols in suspected crime hotspots, including Bimbi Swamp.
During the patrol, security personnel recovered a white-spotted heifer believed to have been stolen.
Police later identified and contacted the owner of the animal.
A suspect, identified as Zimbwe Ramathan, a resident of Kyengera, was arrested during the operation and is currently detained at Kasanje Police Station on allegations of cattle theft.
In a separate incident early Monday morning, police foiled an aggravated robbery in Katabi Town Council, Wakiso District.
Police said that at around 3:30am on March 9, three suspects armed with pangas allegedly broke into a residence in Kabaale B Ward and robbed the occupants of Shs570,000 and a Samsung Galaxy Note 10 mobile phone.
Officers who responded to the distress call surrounded the house and later arrested the suspects who had reportedly hidden in the ceiling.
The suspects were identified as Sekitoleko Acram, Oluka Robert, and Mbazira Bashir.
Police recovered the stolen Samsung Galaxy Note 10 and Shs240,000, part of the money allegedly taken during the robbery.
Investigations into the two cases are ongoing, police said, adding that the suspects will be charged in court once inquiries are completed.
Authorities have also applauded residents for their cooperation and for sharing information that helped security agencies track down the suspects.
