Kapelebyong, Uganda – The murder of six-year-old Apio Joan Faith has sparked a major investigation, with Lt. Gen. Sam Okiding revealing that four schools in Soroti City are suspected of involvement in child killings.
Among them, Jozan Nursery and Primary School, where Apio was slaughtered, has been closed indefinitely.
Speaking at Apio Joan’s burial on February 18, 2025, Lt. Gen. Okiding confirmed that intelligence reports indicate three additional schools are being investigated.
He urged school administrators to cooperate with security forces as authorities intensify their inquiries.
Lt. Gen. Okiding described Jozan Nursery and Primary School as a danger to children, calling it an abattoir that has facilitated horrific crimes.
He confirmed that Apio was killed by a woman and a child who witnessed the act has since lost their sanity due to trauma.
At a security briefing in Mbuya, Lt. Gen. Okiding recounted the disturbing details of the case, leaving fellow generals in shock and grief as they questioned how such atrocities could happen.
Lt. Gen. Okiding assured mourners that justice will be served, revealing that key witnesses have testified, strengthening the case against those responsible.
He warned that if the courts fail to act, the army will step in to ensure accountability.
During the burial, leaders and institutions offered financial support to Apio Joan’s family, showing solidarity and a commitment to justice.
Lt. Gen. Okiding encouraged Apio Joan’s family to remain strong and prayerful as investigations continue.
He declared that this battle against child sacrifice is just beginning, vowing to see it through until all culprits are brought to justice.
