Lira, Uganda | Delegates of the National Resistance Movement (NRM) in the Lango sub-region have endorsed Hon. Geoffrey Ogwang as their preferred candidate for National Treasurer in the NRM National Youth League, setting the stage for a regionally backed campaign ahead of the upcoming youth elections.

The endorsement was announced during a youth leaders’ consultative meeting held in Lira City, which attracted representatives from across Northern Uganda, including youth activists, district mobilisers, and party officials.

Ogwang, who currently serves in youth mobilisation structures within the NRM, welcomed the endorsement with humility and described it as a reflection of the growing demand for accountable and people-centered leadership within the party’s youth ranks.

He said he is standing to empower this generation through practical initiatives that directly impact young people.

He expressed confidence that, with unity, the youth can secure a brighter and more inclusive future.

He outlined a four-point agenda focused on youth economic empowerment, financial literacy, rights advocacy, and transparency in resource management.

His plan includes supporting youth-led income-generating projects, promoting life skills training, advancing equitable access to education, and ensuring accountability in the management of party finances.

The endorsement drew strong backing from district leaders, including Alebtong District NRM Youth General Secretary Okwany Steven Ken, who described Ogwang as a leader who listens and delivers.

Okwany said the youth of Alebtong and Northern Uganda support Ogwang because he leads with integrity and understands the needs of young people.

He added that they are confident Ogwang will bring discipline and transparency to the Youth League’s financial systems.

The NRM Youth League elections are expected to take place later this year.
