His hands-on approach and commitment to his people have earned him recognition not only in Parliament but also among the residents of Kole South.
Recently, Peter Ocen Akalo oversaw the rehabilitation of an 11-kilometer road connecting Lira City, Agege, and Bala Town Council to the Te-boke border in Apac District.
This vital project, completed at a cost of 15 million Ugandan shillings, has significantly improved access to healthcare, education, markets, and places of worship for many residents.
The MP continues to push for further road repairs, especially in areas like Anyongo-Kingo Village, where locals have requested urgent attention to roads that hinder access to essential services.
In addition to his infrastructure efforts, Ocen Akalo is a strong advocate for education. His leadership has led Kole District to consistently top the Primary Leaving Examination (PLE) results.
As part of his educational initiative, he introduced an assessment test for all primary schools in the area, ensuring that pupils receive the support they need to succeed.
Additionally, Ocen Akalo rewards academic excellence by providing mattresses to pupils who achieve first-grade results in the PLE, motivating them to reach their full potential.
The MP’s commitment to healthcare is evident through the provision of two ambulances, which have improved access to emergency medical services within the constituency.
He has also been instrumental in distributing 50,000 seedlings annually to promote environmental conservation, further demonstrating his dedication to the community’s well-being.
Ocen Akalo’s support extends to women and mothers in the region. Through his initiative, dresses are given to members of the Women’s Guild and Mothers’ Union, ensuring they are well-presented and dignified in their community engagements.
Raila Odinga Joe, the Speaker of Akalo Sub County and personal assistant to Ocen Akalo, praises the MP for his tireless work, noting that his efforts have brought significant positive change to Kole South.
Similarly, Robert Atine, LC1 Chairperson of Anyongo-Kingo Village, expressed gratitude for the ongoing road rehabilitation and called for continued support in improving the area’s infrastructure.
