Omoro District, Uganda – Omoro District was shaken today, 11 December 2024, by the tragic news of the death of 53-year-old Charles Ojok, a well-known bicycle repairman from Oryang B village, Oryang parish, Orayapwoyo subcounty.
Ojok was found lifeless this morning at Conner Agula trading center, sparking concerns among residents and authorities alike.
Ojok, who belonged to the Jaka clan of the Acholi tribe, was widely recognized for his craftsmanship in bicycle repairs and was respected in the community for his hard work and dedication.

Emmanuel Okot, the Resident District Commissioner (RDC) of Omoro District, also expressed his condolences and confirmed that the body had been taken to the hospital for postmortem examination and a case has been filed at Omoro Central Police Station (CPS).
The RDC emphasized that investigations were ongoing to determine if foul play was involved in Ojok’s death.
“We are closely monitoring the situation, and arrests will follow as necessary once more details are uncovered,” Okot assured the public.
Though the exact circumstances surrounding Ojok’s death remain unclear, local authorities have expressed concern about the rise in criminal activities within the district, especially during the festive season.
In a public statement, Okot urged the community to remain vigilant and cautious, particularly with the influx of strangers into their areas.
“We must be alert and protect our communities from rising crime and insecurity,” he said. “The safety of our people is paramount, and we must work together to prevent such tragedies from happening.”
