Museveni Urged Presidential Skilling Hub Alumni in Lango  to Drive Economic Change

Apac, Uganda – Jonal Okot, the Assistant Resident District Commissioner (ARDC) of Apac, today addressed alumni of the Presidential Skilling Hub in  Lango Subregion during a briefing held in Apac.

The gathering which converged over 200 former trainees of the Lango Industrial Hub, where Okot relayed a directive from President Yoweri Museveni urging them to form Savings and Credit Cooperative Organizations (SACCOs).

In his remarks, Okot reflected on President Museveni’s famous 1986 Liberation Day speech, stating, “Mzee told the people that the change was not a mere change of guards but a fundamental change. This is where we have reached today, and you now form part of the fundamental change Mzee spoke about 39 years ago.”

Okot encouraged the alumni to become agents of change in their communities by inspiring the youth to join the money economy and embrace job creation rather than job seeking.

He emphasized the importance of SACCOs in promoting self-reliance and economic growth.

The event was graced by several dignitaries, including the Deputy Resident District Commissioner of Apac, Joan Apio, district and municipal commercial officers, a team from State House and the District Police Commander, SP Nora Mirembe.

The gathering also served as a platform to celebrate Liberation Day, with Okot extending his wishes for a prosperous commemoration.

President Museveni is set to visit the Lango Subregion next week, from Tuesday to Friday, for a zonal tour aimed at assessing the progress of government programs such as the Parish Development Model (PDM).
