Lira, Uganda – In a passionate address on Friday, Leo Aguda Olila, a prominent NRM supporter, expressed growing frustration with the behavior of certain party members in Lango sub-region.
Aguda accused some leaders of breaching the NRM constitution by undermining the party’s values and promoting opposition candidates, actions he described as detrimental to the party’s unity and future.
Speaking to the press, Aguda asserted that he would mobilize the youth and other loyal members of the NRM to counter these challenges and restore the party’s credibility in the region.
Aguda outlined specific provisions of the NRM constitution that demand accountability from members.
He highlighted Article 8, Clause 5(a) to (e), which stipulates that any member found campaigning for opposition candidates or offering material support to rival political groups automatically forfeits their membership.
The activist further accused certain presidential advisors of failing in their duties to promote the NRM agenda, instead aligning themselves with opposition interests.
In his call to action, Aguda urged President Yoweri Museveni, the national chairperson of the NRM, to intervene swiftly.
He requested the president to ensure fair hearings for individuals accused of violating the party’s code of conduct and to restore order within the NRM’s ranks in Lango.
