Dokolo, Uganda – Joseph Jones Ogwal, a parliamentary aspirant for Dokolo North in the 2026–2031 term, continues to build momentum and goodwill through his annual Christmas football tournament held at Igar Primary School on the 25 December, 2024.

Ogwal expressed gratitude to the people of Igar for their unwavering support and the youth for their fair play throughout the festive tournament.
The tournament, which Ogwal has hosted annually, has become a platform for promoting unity, fostering community spirit and engaging the youth in positive activities.
Ogwal, contesting under the National Resistance Movement (NRM) Party, emphasized his mission to eradicate long-standing divisions in Dokolo North based on party affiliations, clans and religion.
He called on all residents, irrespective of their political loyalties to other aspirants like Amoro Paul Omiat or Moses Ogwal Goli, to unite under his leadership.
“I am contesting to foster love, happiness and unity among the people of Dokolo North. Divisionism has held us back for too long. Together, we can achieve the development and leadership you have been yearning for,” Ogwal said.
He assured the people of Dokolo North that he is the leader who can revitalize development in Lango.
“Through competent leadership, I will make Dokolo North shine again,” he declared.
Leaders and residents showered praise on Ogwal for his visionary leadership and dedication to the community.

Adoko Bosco, LC III of Dokolo Subcounty, described Ogwal as a humble and connected leader who can lobby for projects that will transform the constituency.

Odur Geoffrey, LC III of Amwoma Subcounty, lauded the tournament as a unifying Christmas celebration.
“The youth showcased discipline and fair play, making this event a success. I urge everyone in Dokolo North to vote wisely in 2026 and rally behind Ogwal Jones, a leader with a clear vision for our community,” Odur said.
The Christmas football tournament featured teams from Acanpii, Awiri, Abenyo, Anangogwec, Adagmon and Alenga Parishes.
The final match ended in a 1-1 draw between Awiri and Acanpii, with Awiri triumphing 5-4 in a penalty shootout.
Prizes were awarded as follows: Awiri: UGX 175,000, medals for each player, Acanpii: UGX 150,000 and Other teams: UGX 100,000 each.
Ogwal also donated sports jerseys to all participating parishes, urging them to maintain the uniforms.
Ogwal noted that sports provide an excellent opportunity to engage and mobilize the youth, who are often challenging to reach through conventional methods.
Delish Akello, a resident of Igar, thanked Ogwal for his efforts to unite and inspire the youth.
“This tournament brings joy and hope. None of the other aspirants or even the current MP has done this,” she said.

Sarah Opio echoed these sentiments, expressing confidence in Ogwal’s leadership.
“He is the only hope and true leader for Dokolo North,” she said.
Ogwal urged the people of Dokolo North to vote for him, promising to prioritize their interests and ensure sustainable development as the 2026 elections approach.
“Dokolo North deserves a leader who truly cares, and I am here to make it happen,” he concluded.
With growing support from local leaders, residents and the youth, Ogwal Jones is positioning himself as a unifying force and a beacon of hope for Dokolo North’s future, ensuring that the Christmas spirit of togetherness and joy extends well beyond the holiday season.
