Dokolo, Uganda – Aspirant for Dokolo North MP 2026, Joseph Jones Ogwal Omara, has stepped up efforts to support youth and boda boda riders in Bata Town Council through sports, financial aid and road safety initiatives.
During the Eid Cup Tournament Final, Ogwal donated 500,000 UGX to the Muslim community in Bata Town Council as part of the Eid al-Fitr celebrations.
He emphasized the role of sports in fostering unity, discipline and employment opportunities, promising continued support for youth-focused programs.
The tournament, which lasted two weeks, saw Central Ward crowned champions after a 1-0 victory over Southern Ward.
The winners received 170,000 UGX, while the runners-up took home 150,000 UGX. Other participating teams received 100,000 UGX each, with the top two teams earning medals.
Ogwal also donated jerseys to all five wards – Central, Eastern, Southern, Western and Northern – as well as the Bata Town Council Boda Boda Football Team.
Beyond sports, Ogwal Omara announced an upcoming road safety training program for boda boda riders in Bata Town Council, pledging to ensure their safety on the roads.
To kickstart the initiative, he distributed reflector jackets and promised more support in the coming weeks.
Geoffrey Odur, LC III Chairperson of Amwoma Sub-county, highlighted the importance of such initiatives, stating that the youth have often been neglected and such programs help create opportunities and promote development.
Akello Faimah, a resident of Central Ward, also expressed her appreciation for Ogwal’s efforts, especially his 500,000 UGX donation to the Muslim community.
“No leader has ever done this for us. May Allah bless him to become our next MP in 2026,” she said.
Lino Okwir, Chairperson of Bata Town Council Boda Boda Riders, lauded Ogwal for his continued support, particularly his two-week football tournament and his donation of reflector jackets for the boda boda riders.
He encouraged fellow voters in Bata to support Ogwal in the 2026 elections, praising his dedication to all age groups, from youth to women and the elderly.
He also requested Ogwal to connect the jobless youth in Bata with motorcycle loan schemes to help alleviate poverty.
Meanwhile, former Okwalongwen Sub-county LC III Chairperson, Okori Kasim, called on political agents to focus on issue-based campaigns rather than blackmail, urging aspirants to let their work speak for them.
In his speech, Ogwal Omara described himself as the “spanner for development” in Dokolo North, urging the people to support him in the same way they would assist a spanner in untying the tyres of a vehicle.
His growing support in Bata Town Council is seen as a sign of his increasing influence ahead of the 2026 elections.
