Otuke, Uganda – Residents of Otuke District have hailed Hon. Acon Julius as a “leader who listens” after he funded the drilling of boreholes to address their long-standing water challenges.

In Oket Village, Anyalima Parish, Ogor Sub-County, Acon the MP for Otuke East County commissioned a UGX 20 million borehole on January 10, 2025, bringing clean water to a community that had struggled with unsafe water sources.
The following day, he replicated this effort in Awei Village, Oluro Parish, in the same sub-county, funding another borehole worth UGX 20 million.
Geoffrey Okola, the LC1 Chairperson of Awei Village, praised the MP’s swift response to their plea for water.
“Acon is a unique leader. When we raised our concerns, he listened and acted immediately. This borehole will transform our lives,” Okola said.
Residents in both villages, who previously walked long distances for water, have expressed gratitude and pledged to maintain the new facilities.
Okola shared that each household will contribute UGX 2,000 to fund maintenance and employ someone to monitor proper usage of the borehole.
Acon, who is well-known for his commitment to community welfare, stated, “Clean water is a basic human right. I will continue to support communities in need, not just in Otuke but also in neighboring districts like Alebtong and Dokolo.”
The MP’s hands-on approach and consistent support for water access have earned him admiration from his constituents and beyond. Many see him as a practical leader who prioritizes real solutions over promises.
