UPC Group in Oyam Town Council Strengthens Party Solidarity with Remarkable Wedding Support

Oyam, Uganda – A vibrant and united group of Uganda People’s Congress (UPC) partisans in Oyam Town Council, known as “Acan Akwo Kwoo Ilwete”, has demonstrated remarkable party solidarity by offering a memorable gift during the wedding ceremony of their fellow member, Samuel Walter Judith Okello on Saturday 11th January 2025.

The group, under the leadership of Denish Anyeki Emuna, presented a cow valued at UGX 600,000 and an envelope containing cash to support the couple’s special day, leaving many attendees astonished and inspired by the gesture.

The colourful event took place at Abanya Cell, Western Ward, Oyam Town Council, and was graced by several dignitaries, party members, and well-wishers from various political affiliations.

The group’s generosity was described by many as a testament to the true spirit of unity and mutual support that UPC continues to foster among its members.

Speaking during the event, Chairperson Denish Anyeki Emuna recounted the journey of Acan Akwo Kwoo Ilwete, which started in 2020 with only 12 active members.

He expressed pride in the group’s steady growth to over 350 members today, attributing the success to their shared goal of promoting peace, unity, and community welfare.

“This group was formed to bring members together, promote party ideals, and support one another in both joyful and difficult times,” said Emuna.

“We assist our members during weddings, traditional marriages, and burials by offering tents, chairs, and other essential resources at no cost. Our support extends to non-members as well, as we believe in fostering goodwill beyond party boundaries.”

Samuel Walter Judith Okello, a teacher and member of the Lwaa Atoonara clan, was visibly moved by the unexpected support from his fellow partisans.
