Dokolo North Member of Parliament Joseph Jones Ogwal has urged residents of Dokolo North to participate in the ongoing Patriotic League of Uganda (PLU) membership registration exercise across the sub-counties of Dokolo District.
Ogwal made the call on Friday, October 9, 2026, while presiding over the Uhuru Football Tournament held at Amwoma Primary School playground.
The legislator extended President Yoweri Kaguta Museveni’s greetings to the people of his constituency and encouraged them to embrace the government’s wealth creation programmes aimed at improving household incomes and eradicating poverty.
He also called on NRM supporters and those who support the president’s leadership to register with the PLU endorsement exercise to mobilise support for General Muhoozi Kainerugaba’s anticipated presidential bid in 2031.
Ogwal said mass registration would help strengthen the organisation’s grassroots presence by reaching more communities and mobilising support ahead of the anticipated 2031 presidential contest. He encouraged eligible residents to take advantage of the ongoing exercise to register.
On sports development, Ogwal pledged to supply sports uniforms to female football teams across all parishes in Amwoma Sub-county as part of efforts to promote young talent and encourage greater participation in sports.
He urged young people to actively engage in sporting activities, saying sports can improve their health, nurture their talents and keep them away from crime and other negative influences.
Meanwhile, Bata Town Council LCIII Chairperson Shaban Ocen applauded MP Ogwal for his passion and commitment to supporting young people, particularly through sports development.
Ocen said such initiatives provide opportunities for young people to develop their talents and participate in productive activities within their communities.
The Uhuru Football Tournament is part of MP Ogwal’s broader vision to promote sports and nurture young talent across Dokolo North Constituency.
