Alien Skin’s ‘Sitya Danger’ Lands Him in Luzira: Singer Arrested Over Assault and Stealing iPhone 15 Pro Worth UGX 3.5M

Kampala, UgandaPopular musician Patrick Mulwana, famously known as Alien Skin, and his bodyguard Julius Mugabi (alias Julio) have been remanded to Luzira Prison following allegations of assaulting medical staff at St. Francis Nsambya Hospital and involvement in a separate theft case.

On Monday, November 25, 2024, the duo appeared before Makindye Chief Magistrate Esther Adikini, where they denied charges of grievous harm.

According to the prosecution, the incident occurred on November 19, when Alien Skin’s group allegedly stormed Nsambya Hospital after the death of their colleague, Joram Tumwesigye, a 28-year-old resident of Makindye Division.

They are accused of assaulting Dr. Zaidi Matovu, Alex Odongo, and Anthony Munyanda during the confrontation.

A widely circulated video of the altercation shocked the public, showing Alien Skin’s associates attacking hospital staff and security personnel while the artist allegedly endorsed the violence.

Despite their plea for bail, both Alien Skin and Julio were remanded until November 28, when the case will return to court for further mention and consideration of bail.

The embattled singer is also facing separate charges of theft, linked to a September 28 incident. Prosecutors allege that Alien Skin stole an iPhone 15 Pro valued at UGX 3.5 million, UGX 480,000 in cash, and a wallet containing a national ID from Salim Mubiru.

For this case, Alien Skin has been remanded until December 9, 2024, when it will be revisited.

These developments have put the singer, known for his hit song Sitya Danger, under intense scrutiny. His legal troubles have raised concerns about his off-stage conduct, with critics pointing to a pattern of behaviour that undermines his musical success.

Outside the Makindye Magistrates’ Court, Alien Skin’s supporters, including Presidential Advisor Full Figure and family members, gathered in a show of solidarity.

However, police dispersed the crowd to maintain order. Inside the courtroom, Alien Skin, wearing a black jacket and hoodie, appeared calm and reflective.

The remand marks a dramatic turn for the controversial artist, whose rise to fame has been marked by both musical success and public controversy.

The assault at Nsambya Hospital has drawn widespread condemnation, with many questioning the lack of accountability among public figures. Civic leaders and human rights advocates have called for justice for the victims.

Alien Skin’s next court appearance on November 28 will be closely watched, as the outcome could set a precedent for celebrity behaviour and responsibility in Uganda.

As the legal battles unfold, the once-celebrated musician faces an uncertain future, with his reputation and career hanging in the balance.
