Oyam, Uganda – The case involving the assault of three journalists in Oyam District has been forwarded to the Resident State Attorney for legal advice.

Chris James Woo (Voice of Lango FM-Lira), Yonah Eman (Shine FM Oyam) and Solomon Okello (Dokolo Post) were attacked on February 10, 2025, at Akaidebe Cell, Adel Ward, Minakulu Town Council.

The journalists were covering a road rehabilitation project supported by Oyam District Woman MP, Santa Alum Ogwang, when they were allegedly assaulted by a group led by Martin Nam, an ambulance driver and Sida Odongo.

Following the attack, Solomon Okello reported the matter to Oyam Central Police Station on February 11, under SD REF number 23/11/02/2025, later registered as CRB 124/2025.

However, on February 16, 2025, Martin Nam filed a counter-assault complaint against Okello at Minakulu Police Station under CRB 19/2025.

With both cases now under review, the Resident State Attorney’s legal advice will determine the next course of action.

Chris Woo, one of the assaulted journalists, expressed hope that the legal process will bring justice.

The outcome of the legal review will be crucial in deciding the fate of the case and ensuring accountability.
