Alebtong, Uganda | The Deputy Resident District Commissioner of Alebtong, Mathias Lutwama, has commended Aloi High Primary School for promoting institutional meritocracy and delivering holistic education to learners.
During a field assessment conducted on March 19, 2026, Lutwama said the school has established a strong system that nurtures discipline, academic excellence, and practical skills among pupils.
He noted that learners at the school are guided through a well-structured daily programme that balances classroom learning, breaks, and co-curricular activities in line with their psychosocial development, adding that the approach helps instill a strong culture of time management among pupils, which is critical for both academic success and personal growth.
The RDC also praised the school for integrating practical learning into its curriculum, particularly in agriculture and poultry keeping, which he said equips learners with essential life skills beyond the classroom.
Lutwama further hailed the school’s headteacher, Charles Edom, for demonstrating high levels of integrity and accountability in the management of capitation grants, noting that the school leadership regularly reports to parents, the school management committee, and the foundation body on the utilisation of funds.
In addition, he applauded the school’s inclusive approach, revealing that no pupil is sent away due to failure to pay development fees, as parents are instead encouraged to contribute what they can to support the school’s operations.
On staffing, Lutwama said the school has prioritised teacher professional development, with 16 out of the 18 government-paid teachers holding university degrees, while the remaining two are finalising their studies.
He added that the commitment to upgrading academic credentials is key to sustaining quality education and improving learner outcomes.
Lutwama emphasised that continuous mentoring and evaluation of schools in the district is anchored on performance targets and aligned with the broader goals of the NRM manifesto, reaffirming government’s commitment to strengthening education standards through close supervision and support to institutions that demonstrate excellence.
