Lira, Uganda | In a move aimed at streamlining service delivery and strengthening governance structures, the Office of the President has transferred Mr. Okot Peter Jonal, the Assistant Resident District Commissioner (ARDC) of Apac District, to Lira City East Division.
The directive was officially issued on 29th May 2025 under reference number ADM 108/170/01.

According to the letter signed by Haji Yunus Kakande, Secretary in the Office of the President, the decision was made in the interest of service.
Mr. Okot is expected to assume his new duties as the Assistant Resident City Commissioner (ARCC) for Lira City East Division immediately.
He has been instructed to hand over in accordance with Section F-d of the Uganda Public Service Standing Orders (2021 Edition) and to report to his new duty station without delay.
The development reflects the government’s broader strategy of reinforcing public administration efficiency and ensuring that experienced personnel are deployed where their skills are most needed.
The transfer was officially received and acknowledged on the same day by a representative identified as Mr. Opio Norman Olet, whose contact details and confirmation were handwritten on the original letter.
Copies of the communication were also dispatched to the Minister for the Presidency, the Resident District Commissioner of Apac, the Resident City Commissioner of Lira City, and the Deputy Resident City Commissioner of Lira East Division to facilitate the transition.
This redeployment marks another step in the government’s ongoing efforts to strengthen local governance frameworks and ensure seamless coordination between district and urban administrative units.
