ARCC Okello Alele Applauds Museveni & Dr. Aceng for Advancing Healthcare and Development in Lira City

Assistant Resident City Commissioner (ARCC) Bonny Ferdinand Okello Alele hailed the project as a transformational investment in public health.

He emphasized that Lira City and Lango sub-region face increasing health challenges, making this laboratory a critical tool for rapid disease detection and management.

“This Satellite Laboratory is a testament to the NRM government’s commitment to quality healthcare. It will enhance disease surveillance, diagnosis, and outbreak response, ensuring timely and professional healthcare services for our people,” ARCC Alele stated.

The laboratory is equipped with advanced diagnostic machines for microbiology, biochemistry, and hematology, enabling faster and more accurate disease diagnosis. It will significantly improve the management of diseases such as tuberculosis, HIV/AIDS, malaria, and emerging infections.

Beyond diagnostics, the facility will serve as a regional hub for public health research, training, and mentorship. Health professionals from Northern and Eastern Uganda will receive specialized training in laboratory medicine and epidemiology, further strengthening the region’s healthcare system.

According to ARCC Alele, health is a top priority for the NRM government, and the people of Lira City and Lango will forever appreciate this investment.

“Despite challenges, Dr. Jane Ruth Aceng and her technical team have worked tirelessly to improve Uganda’s healthcare system, particularly at LRRH. This facility further cements her legacy as a champion of healthcare development,” he added.

The Resident City Commissioner (RCC), Emmy Lawrence Egole, assured the public that the Office of the President in Lira City would monitor and oversee the facility’s operations to ensure quality healthcare service delivery.

The launch of this UGX 4.5 billion health facility comes at a crucial political time, with the 2026 general elections approaching.

Analysts believe this development will boost NRM’s support in Lango, reaffirming confidence in President Museveni and Minister Aceng.
