Erute South Member of Parliament and Minister for Relief, Disaster Preparedness and Refugees, Sam Engola, has donated a vehicle to Rev. Lawrence Oyom of St. Paul Church of Uganda, Bar Headquarters, to facilitate his pastoral duties.
Engola handed over the vehicle during a fellowship service at the church on Sunday, which he attended with his wife, Betty.
The minister, who is also a businessman and car dealer, said the donation was part of his efforts to appreciate church leaders for their service to God and the community.
Engola said he sometimes receives favourable offers when purchasing vehicles and views such opportunities as blessings from God that should be shared with others.
He said the vehicle would ease Rev. Oyom’s movement as he visits Christians, conducts pastoral activities and carries out other responsibilities within his area of service.
The donation adds to Engola’s recent support for religious leaders through vehicle donations. In August, he fulfilled a pledge by donating a new Subaru to Rev. Nelson Peter Okullo of Abunga Parish to support pastoral work and evangelism.
Engola has also donated a Toyota Sienta to Rev. Fr. George Ochieng Olwanda of Lira Diocese and supported newly ordained priests in the diocese with vehicles to facilitate their ministry.
Church leaders and members of the congregation thanked Engola for the donation, saying the vehicle would improve Rev. Oyom’s mobility and enable him to serve Christians more effectively.
