ARUA CITY-A 16-year-old primary school pupil, Waiswa Richard, was brutally murdered by his girlfriend’s relatives in Arua city, according to police reports.
Waiswa, a pupil at Kova Primary School, was caught having sexual intercourse with his classmate when the attack occurred.
On June 3, 2024, Waiswa visited his girlfriend’s home as they had planned. As the two engaged in consensual intimacy, the girl’s relatives discovered them and carried out a violent assault on Waiswa. He suffered severe burns and multiple cuts to the head, ultimately leading to his tragic death.
The assailants then dumped Waiswa’s body in Oziava Swamp, where it was later discovered by the area’s local council one Chairperson.
Police launched a murder investigation and a postmortem examination was conducted, confirming the cause of death.
Police spokesperson Josephine Angucia urged the public to cooperate with authorities and refrain from taking the law into their own hands. Those involved in the gruesome killing are currently at large, but authorities are working tirelessly to bring them to justice.
Angucia emphasized the importance of following lawful procedures in such situations, warning that individuals who choose to kill suspected criminals without due process will face murder charges.
As the investigation continues under Ayivu West Division CRB 179/2024, the community mourns the tragic loss of a young life and demands justice for Waiswa.
