The relaunch ceremony, held at the hospital’s premises along Aber Road, was graced by dignitaries from the healthcare sector, business community, and local government, including: Bosco Ogwang Edola, veteran businessman and proprietor of Magarita Hotel & Edola Towers, Judith Nanyonjo, Senior Principal Nursing Officer from Lira Regional Referral Hospital, Mr. Martin, Proprietor of Garden Inn, William Nnyombi, Director Service Delivery Channels at Marie Stopes Uganda, Dr. Benard Otucu, Lira City Health Officer, Nancy Anena, Marie Stopes Lira City Centre Manager and Mose Adem Okello, Lira District Speaker

William Nnyombi, Director Service Delivery Channels at Marie Stopes Uganda, delivered a keynote address emphasizing the organization’s dedication to providing comprehensive healthcare services. “Marie Stopes has been a trusted healthcare provider in Uganda for over 30 years, and we are proud to relaunch our Lira Hospital, which has been serving this community for 24 years. Our services extend beyond family planning to include ultrasound scans, medical consultation, laboratory services, and more. We remain committed to making healthcare accessible and affordable for all.”
The relaunched Lira Hospital offers a comprehensive range of services, including ultrasound scans, medical consultation, laboratory services, and more. The hospital has maintained its affordable pricing structure, ensuring that quality healthcare remains accessible to all. Two additional doctors/specialists will join the team this month, further enhancing the hospital’s capacity to provide specialized care.
Marie Stopes Lira Hospital is not just for women; men can also access essential health services, including Prostate Cancer screening, Safe Male Circumcision, and Vasectomy. This inclusive approach to healthcare underscores Marie Stopes’ commitment to promoting overall well-being for all individuals.
Nancy Anena, Marie Stopes Lira City Centre Manager, emphasized the organization’s dedication to community outreach and partnerships. “We are always ready and available for outreaches at schools, churches, community centres, and health facilities, providing family planning services and promoting sexual and reproductive health.”
Dr. Benard Otucu, Lira City Health Officer, acknowledged Marie Stopes’ positive impact on reproductive health in Lira City and the Lango sub-region. He urged the organization to focus on addressing teenage pregnancy, a persistent challenge in the region. “Teenage pregnancy remains a significant concern, and we must work together to address this issue through education and awareness.”
To mark the relaunch, Marie Stopes Lira Hospital is offering a comprehensive wellness package at an affordable price of UGX 15,000, valid from June 6-13, 2024. This package includes Diabetes and Blood Pressure checks, Ulcers Screening, Malaria Testing, Body Mass Index (BMI) calculation, and Medical Consultation.
