Soroti, Uganda – The Bible Society of Uganda representative for the Greater Teso Sub-Region, Ms. Sylvia Atim has made a heartfelt appeal to Christians and well-wishers to support the production of Bibles for the blind.
Speaking during the second mass at St. Immaculate Catholic Cathedral in Soroti City, she highlighted the urgent need to make scripture accessible to visually impaired believers.
Sylvia revealed the high cost of producing Braille Bibles, with each copy amounting to a staggering 2 million Ugandan shillings.
Despite the expense, the Bible Society is determined to ensure that blind Christians can deepen their faith through scripture.
“Blind people are very eager to read the Word of God, but many cannot afford to purchase these Bibles,” Sylvia said during her speech.
She emphasized the importance of inclusivity in spiritual growth and called on Christians to show compassion and generosity.
The Bible Society Greater Teso Sub Region aims to secure at least two Braille Bibles this year to support the blind community.
Sylvia urged individuals, churches, and organizations to contribute toward this noble cause, reminding them of the power of collective action.
“We are counting on your support to make this dream a reality,” she said. “Together, we can ensure that no one is left out in accessing God’s Word.”
The Bible Society welcomes donations from individuals and institutions willing to support the production of Braille Bibles.
This call to action comes as a reminder of the importance of inclusivity in faith, ensuring that everyone, regardless of ability, has the opportunity to engage with the Bible.
