Soroti City, Uganda – Mother Kevin Health Centre III in Soroti East Division has issued a stern warning to the public about an ongoing scam involving an individual falsely claiming to operate a branch under its name.
Sister Sabrina Gwende, the facility’s In-Charge, has clarified that the health center has no annex or secondary location anywhere in Soroti City.
The fraudulent operation, which has reportedly conned several people, is being orchestrated by a former employee of the health center who is now soliciting money from unsuspecting residents.
“This person is misusing the good reputation of Mother Kevin Health Centre III to deceive and extort money from the public,” said Sr. Sabrina. “We want to make it clear that Mother Kevin operates only from its primary location.”
Healthcare fraud is not new, but the use of a trusted institution’s name adds a troubling dimension to this case.
The scammer’s association with the health center as a former employee has added a layer of credibility to their deceit, making it harder for victims to detect the scam.
“This misuse of trust is deeply concerning,” Sr. Sabrina noted. “The public must remain vigilant and verify any claims before engaging with anyone purporting to represent us.”
Sr. Sabrina urged residents to be cautious when dealing with individuals offering healthcare services, especially those operating outside recognized facilities.
She emphasized that all inquiries about Mother Kevin Health Centre III should be directed to its official location.
She further called on local leaders and law enforcement to help create awareness and crack down on such fraudulent activities.
“The community must work together to expose and stop these harmful practices,” she said.
