Lira City Inspector of Schools Ogwok Samuel Brown has commended Cambridge City School for its academic performance, teacher discipline, and commitment to meeting education standards, despite its relatively small size.
Speaking during the school’s Primary Seven candidates’ dedication prayer on Sunday, October 25, 2026, Ogwok praised the director and management for establishing an independent learning institution and fulfilling the requirements for its operation.
He said the school had secured its operating licence, registration and examination centre number after completing the required procedures, describing its ability to host its own Primary Leaving Examination (PLE) centre for the first time as a major milestone.
Ogwok said the development would enable the school’s candidates to sit their examinations at their own institution rather than being transferred to another school.
He urged parents to continue supporting the school, promote its reputation, and enrol more children while encouraging the candidates to remain focused, prepare adequately, and take their examinations seriously.
Cambridge City School headteacher Daniel Munu expressed confidence in the school’s 30 P7 candidates, comprising 15 boys and 15 girls ahead of the November examinations.
Munu said the candidates were adequately prepared and urged them to maintain their concentration as they completed the primary school cycle.
He added that the school promotes holistic education by nurturing learners’ talents and practical skills alongside academic achievement.
Meanwhile, Lira Modern Primary School headteacher Richard Emmy Akaca has urged parents to continue investing in their children’s education, saying it is essential for their future.
Speaking during the school’s P7 candidates’ dedication prayer on Friday, October 23, Akaca thanked parents for their continued support and called on learners to remain committed as they prepared for their final primary school examinations.
He also appealed to parents to treat their children with kindness when they return home for the holidays, regardless of their examination performance.
Akaca said Lira Modern Primary School had registered 68 candidates for the 2026 PLE.
According to the 2026 examination timetable, the Uganda National Examinations Board (UNEB) is scheduled to brief the PLE candidates on October 30, with the examinations set for November 3 and 4.
A total of 920,796 candidates have registered for the PLE, contributing to a combined candidature of 1,627,885 learners for the PLE, Uganda Certificate of Education (UCE) and Uganda Advanced Certificate of Education (UACE) examinations.
